Fran Warren kicks off this mix of fabulous female singers, with Claude Thornhill's Orchestra. Her warm, smooth mature sounding voice was also featured by Charlie Barnet, Randy Brooks, Billy Eckstine, and Art Mooney. The thirties brought a new kind of singer - cooler, warmer, jazzier, smoother, sweeter and tougher. Kay Thompson was a voice coach to stars such as Judy Garland, Lena Horne, Frank Sinatra, and June Allyson, Andy Williams, and also authored the book series 'Elouise' for children. 'Was That The Human Thing To Do' is a rare glimpse of one who rarely recorded but was active behind the scenes. She composed and recorded the song "Elouise" for Cadence records in 1956. Some of these songs are fun and some romantic-some have a bit of attitude. Representing a cross section of strong vocalists from the Swing Era. All these tracks were transferred with a special digital hi-definition process for smoother highs and fuller sound - enjoy!!!
