This album is was recorded entirely with the acoustic recording system for Victor records, and most tracks were transferred with a special digital hi-definition process for smoother,clearer sound. Most earlier Whiteman recordings were instrumental, but by 1923 the vocalists started contributing their talents. The Virginians was a smaller group from Whiteman's band including Tommy Gott-Henry Busse-c/Frank Siegrist-t/Jim Cassidy-Sammy Lewis-tb/Ross Gorman-cl-bcl-as-ldr/Ed Stannard-cl-as/Hale Byers-as-f/Don Clark-cl-ss-as/George Tordy-vn/ferde Grofe-p/Mario Perry-pac/Sleepy Hall-Mike Pingitore-bj/Al Armer-Sammy Heiss-bb/Eddie King-Harold MacDonald-George Marsh-d. The electrical sessions in 1927 - 1928 had a completely different personnel. Harry MacDonald recorded a few sides under his own name for Victor IN 1926, but I am uncertain about the personnel for those sessions. The vocalists included Isabella Patricola, Belle Baker, Frank Crumit, Vernon Dalhart, Wendell Hall,Billy Murray,Ed Smalle, Jane Green, and Aileen Stanley. Most of these tracks were transferred with a special digital transfer process for smoother, fuller sound.
