Bennie Krueger was born in Newark, New Jersey 1898 to a family that were not performers, but appreciated music. By the age of four, Bennie took up the violin, but also played the tenor sax, alto, clarinet and piano, and it wasn't long before he was accepted into the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, which was a Victor artist It has been suggested that Bennie introduced Al Bernard to the group, Al Bernard recorded one of the earliest versons o Hansy's Saint Louis Blues. By 1920 his association with Gennett had commenced. . Bennie Krueger played in many bands including Milo Rega's band, the Manhattan Dancemakers (Directed by Ben Selvin), Harry A. Yerkes bands, including the Columbia Saxophone Sextette and the Happy Six, Harry Radermans groups such as Plantation Jazz/Dance Orchestra, The Ambassadors, Bailey's Lucky Seven(Directed by Sam Lanin) Cotton Pickers,columbia Novelty Otchestra (Directed by Joseph Samuels) Dinah with Bing Crosby and the Mills Brothers, Chester Gaylord,Irving Kaufman, Carl Fenton - (who's real name was Gus Haenchen), Newposrt Society Orchestra(Directed by Ben Selvin), Selvin's Novelty Orchestra,the Tennessee tooters for Vocalion, and can be found on Edison, Gennett, Okeh,Cardinal, Arto, Broadway, Paramount, Harmony, Everybody's, Black Swan, Grey Gull and more. Personnel as of 1921 was Bennie Krueger, cl, as, Cm, ts, dir: Hymie Farberman or Benny Bloom, t / Fred Schilling-tb/ Perry Billitzer-as/ Herman Kaplan or Ruby Greenberg-vn/ Benny Altschuler-vc/ Lester Morris or George LeClair-p/ Harry Reser-bj/ Dick Cherwin or John Helleberg-bb/ Sid Reiss-d. New York, early 1921. Sam Lewis-tb was present by 1923 or so.~ Mickey Clark
