Long Live Love is a compilation that transcends styles in music and time. Generally easy listening, I have mixed jazz and ballads to give a tasteful backdrop to any social gathering, or just your personal listening pleasure. I have incorporated well known and lesser known artists but all of quality. Elsa Harris Silver - better known as "Yvette" was born in 1923 in Birmingham Alabama, toured as 'Yvette and her GI Gang' in Ireland during WW II. She was one of the survivors of the 'Yankee Clipper' plane crash near Lisbon, portugal in 1943 - along with Jane Froman - who was seriously hurt. Yvette came through without injury and helped to evacuate the plane. She assumed a French persona for performing, and recorded a number of sides around 1940 for the Bluebird label - but she was a star at NBC Radio - earning $1.000 a week. It is possible that airchecks and transcriptions are out there somewhere. The Charioteers never had the popularity that the Ink Spots or the Mills Brothers, but the diversity of their recordings speak to their musicality and inventiveness. The "Bama" Boys recorded only a few sides but a session in 1939 boasts Teddy Wilson -p and Cosy Cole-d. The personnel on "Moments Like This" is unknown. Arthur Todd was a singer-guitarist that is confused in history with Dick Todd- ' The Canadian Bing Crosby'. Dick Todd played trumpet and was a totally different performer. They both recorded in Los Angeles in 1938 and were the same age. Arthur Todd went on to marry a lady named 'Dotty' and they were to record a very well known song - in 1958 they recorded 'Chanson D'Amour' which went to #6 on the hit parade in April of 1958.
